Fly Tyer’s Hotpoint Kit

A very useful tool, this Hot Point (Cauteriser) from the States is a single battery model that generates 1100 degrees of heat.

Whereas most Hot Points take two batteries which generate too much heat, meaning that you have to play around with a full and a dead battery to balance the temperature, this model offers a more ”controlled burn”, requiring moving the tool a little slower, but there is no over burn.

(I recommend replacing the factory battery with an Energizer e2 Titanium battery to generate just a little more heat.)

Excellent for zapping stray hackle fibres getting in the way of the eye of the hook, cleaning up deer hair stubs, heat kinking spanflex legs on patterns, etc, etc.

The kit contains the main burner, three extra tips, usually retailing at £6.50p each (see the larger image for a close up) and comes in a convenient plastic box with foam insert to carry the burner and all the tips.
