The French Partridge – also known as the “Red Legged” – has some of the most beautiful hackles for tying.

These are essential hackles for creating the most beautiful traditional Irish Mayflies or mayfly Emergers!

These hackles are also great for  loch style fishing flies – for tying emergers or standard wet flies.

Try a French Partridge hackle in place of a Grey Partridge hackle for something different.

As well as essential for traditional North Country Spider patterns, a turn of hackle at the thorax of a pattern adds legs – and a kick on a Jingler pattern.

Tyed in by the tip of the feather, the natural dark brown bar gives an amazing effect at the tip of each barb.
